  2. Never riden a moped/motorcycle - Strongly suggest Confidence Clinic.

When can I ride?
We will open May 2, 2026 7-days a week by reservation for the summer E-Bike season. Most trails in the area are snow-covered during the winter and spring. The Hiawatha Trail will open May 22, 2026 and close September 13, 2026. Pick up a bike as early as 8 a.m. for your ride.
Why should I ride an electric bike?
Electric bikes allow you to cover more distance and climb more hills. If you plan on doing long rides like the Hiawatha, or extended portions of the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, you'll want assistance to extend your range. Riding an electric bike on the Hiawatha Trail allows you to skip the lines and discomfort of their school bus shuttle, and ride back up the trail at your own pace instead. We have heard of riders waiting for the Hiawatha shuttle for hours or more on busier days.
Can I transport the bikes in my car?
You can fit 2 E-Bikes in an uncovered standard 6.5' truck bed. Electric bikes are large, and typically weigh around 50 - 80 pounds. They will not fit in your hatchback, SUV, Ferrari, or inside a vehicle. We reserve the right to cancel your rental if it appears your method of transportation will damage the bikes (or your vehicle.)
What if I don't have a pickup truck?
You can always add our bike drop-off and/or pick-up to your reservation during checkout. If your friend wants us to transport their personal bike, you can add a "non-rental bike drop-off" to your reservation for $25 each. Prior approval is required before we can transport their equipment, so we can make sure their bike is compatible with our transportation systems.

You can also rent our 2-bike car racks. Your vehicle needs a 2" hitch receiver with a rated tongue weight of 300 pounds or more to accommodate the bike rack and 2 E-Bikes. Another option is to rent a Tailgate Protector Pad so you can hang the rental e-bikes on your tailgate.
Why aren't the rental e-bikes allowed on the Hiawatha shuttle bus?
Typically, our bikes are damaged on the shuttle, due to the nature of the bumpy dirt road. Also, E-Bikes are heavy, and it is courteous to give the Hiawatha shuttle employees a break from loading your heavy bike into their bus.

On an electric bike, you do not need to ride the shuttle, since you have electric power to easily ride back up the route.

If you do not want to ride back up the trail, you can rent a regular bike from Lookout Pass / Hiawatha and use their shuttle to get back to your car.

Sales
Do you sell your rental e-bikes?
Yes — every season.

We replace our rental fleet with brand-new E-Bikes every year, which means our current-season bikes eventually become available for purchase.

New for 2026:
Love the E-Bike you rented?
We’ll apply your rental cost toward the purchase price, and you can take home the exact bike you rode that same day. We’ll even clean and tune it before pickup.

We’re passionate about E-Bikes and happy to answer questions, talk riding, and help you find the right fit — no pressure, no corporate sales pitch.

The Spokehouse started the same way for us:
We rode an E-Bike once… and were hooked.
Do you sell new e-bikes?
Yes, we're an Aventon dealer & can guide you on what Aventon E-Bike is right for you.

End of the season is when we clear out our rental inventory of Aventon Aventure and Soltera bikes.  That's the time to get the best deal on those models.
